Another police force considering adding Tesla Model Y’s to their fleet

It wouldn’t be the first police force to do so, but the Sheriff’s Office in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania is reportedly considering adding Tesla’s to their fleet of cruisers.

According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, they were given the opportunity to test a Tesla Model 3 this week. If the EVs prove themselves to be affordable and cost effective they will be taking a very serious look at purchasing the un-released Model Y to add to their department.

With sufficient range to cover the average shift more than twice (150-250km per shift), electricity costs way below the annual fuel bill of a comparable SUV, little to no maintenance, and the incredible performance of a Tesla, the Model Y (and any Tesla for that matter) becomes a pretty enticing choice when it comes to budget conscious police departments.

It’s only a matter of time before we start seeing more Tesla and other EV’s become part of police forces around the world.
