Tesla Model 3 price drop equals big demand in China

Elon Musk was in China last week to help deliver the first made-in-China Model 3 vehicles to Chinese customers at a ceremony at Gigafactory Shanghai. Maybe it was his impressive dance moves, or maybe it was the recent $7,000 price drop, but demand for the new EV in China has been huge.

Tesla stores in China have been so busy since the announcement that they have become overcrowded, forcing staff to ask potential customers to form a line outside the store. There have also been reports from local media that over 1,200 Model 3’s are being ordered in China every day.

With the production of Chinese Model 3’s ramping up to nearly 3,000 per week, and enthusiasm and orders for the EV already at such high levels, it would come as no surprise to see another record quarter for Tesla, after delivering 112,000 vehicles in Q4 2019.
